RAU WOMEN GROUP

.

Rau Positive Women group is established by TREDO (Tanzania Rural Education & Development Organization) and it’s meant for HIV positive women in Rau village. There are about 20 women in the group. The aim of the group is to help and support the women in many different ways.

The group is teaching many different skills to the women. One of the most important skills is English language which gives much better chances to get a job. Also different kinds of business skills are important as well as basic computer skills (Word, internet, email). You can also teach life management courses to the women. These courses can include teaching on saving, family planning, future planning, household skills, hygiene, basic health care or other subjects that are important to the women. You can also teach arts and crafts for the women. This not only gives them a chance to earn their living but also keeps them active and participating.

It is also possible to carry out a bigger project in Rau Positive Women Group.  You can plan a suitable course for the women, prepare the teaching material and instruction also for later use and execute the course. It is also possible to make different kind of surveys among the women or compile projects plans or developing plans for the group. In that way this placement gives also an opportunity for project work or thesis work.
