Rau Day Care center was opened in 2009. At the moment there are about 25 kids attending the daycare. The kids’ ages vary between 2 and 5 years. They arrive at the center around 8 am and leave in the afternoon at 2 pm. During the day they get food and take a nap. Otherwise the daily program is compiled of different play and learning moments. The kids are learning numbers, alphabets, greetings, days of the weeks, months, colors, reading, writing and other skills needed in the school.
There are 5 workers in the day care: 1 kindergarten teacher, 1 teacher assistant, 1 nanny and 2 cooks.
The day care center is sponsored by Finnigh NGO Sama Aurinko (the Same Sun) and few other foreign sponsors. Anyway there are not so much funds so all donations are very welcome. Toys and games are needed in the day care. Also books for small children are welcome. You can also bring coloring pens, crayons, water colors, drawing paper, exercise books, pens, rubbers and all kinds of equipment that you can use for teaching the kids alphabets, numbers, colors, time, body parts, months, days of the week and so on. All donations are of course voluntary and donating is not a condition for working in the community center.
